FAQs

  • How does Acupuncture work?

Acupuncture works by stimulating specific points that influence the flow of energy—called "Qi"—through pathways in the body. From a modern medical perspective, acupuncture can activate the nervous system, improve circulation, and trigger the release of the body’s natural pain-relieving chemicals.

  • What should I expect from my Initial appointment?

Your initial appointment is conducted via telehealth. During this session, we’ll take a deep dive into your health history, current concerns, and wellness goals. You'll also receive personalized lifestyle and self-care recommendations.

From there, we’ll schedule your in-person acupuncture session at the location and time that works best for both of us.

  • Where do the in-person appointments take place?

We offer in-person treatments at multiple locations through Monmouth County, New Jersey - Atlantic Highlands, Holmdel & Tinton Falls.

After your telehealth consultation, we’ll coordinate to find the most convenient option for your schedule.

  • Is there anything I should do before or after an appointment?

Before your session, eat a light meal or snack—try not to come on an empty stomach. Wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows easy access to your arms and legs. Avoid caffeine or intense physical activity right before your appointment.

Please do not arrive under the influence of alcohol, cannabis, or recreational drugs. Being intoxicated can interfere with your body’s response to treatment and may make it unsafe to proceed.

After acupuncture, allow time to rest and hydrate. Avoid alcohol, heavy meals, or strenuous activity for the remainder of the day. Some people feel deeply relaxed, while others may feel a boost in energy—honor your body’s response and give yourself space to integrate the session.

  • What conditions does Acupuncture help with?

Acupuncture is used to address a wide range of concerns, including:

    - Chronic and acute pain

    - Mental Health

    - Stress, anxiety, and depression

    - Headaches and migraines

    - Hormonal and menstrual issues

    - Digestive imbalances

    - Allergies

    - Insomnia

    - Fatigue and low energy

    - Recovery from Illness or Injury

If you're unsure whether acupuncture is right for you, we can discuss your health concerns during your initial consultation.

  • Is Acupuncture safe? Are there any side-effects?

Yes! When performed by a licensed practitioner, acupuncture is very safe. I use only sterile, single-use needles and follow strict safety and hygiene protocols.

Acupuncture is well-tolerated by most people. Mild, temporary side effects such as light bruising, slight fatigue, or feeling emotional may occasionally occur. These effects typically pass within a day or so.

  • Does Acupuncture hurt?

Not usually. The needles are extremely thin—much finer than those used for injections. You might feel a brief sensation upon insertion, but most patients find it relaxing and even fall asleep during treatment.

  • How many treatments will I need?

This depends on your specific condition, how long it has been present, and how your body responds. Some people feel immediate improvement, while others benefit from ongoing care. We'll create a plan that fits your needs and goals.

  • Do you accept insurance?

I do not accept insurance, but I provide superbills upon request. These can be submitted to your insurance company for possible reimbursement, depending on your plan. I recommend checking with your provider in advance to see what’s covered.
